And they continued stedfastly in th apostles’ doctrine and fellowship and in breaking of bread and in prayers. And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
Acts 2:42, 46, 47
As much as we would like to meet daily to follow the examples of the early Christians in the first church, we have limitations so we have set aside a special day every week to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to fellowship with one another.
Here at Bergen Bible Baptist Church, T.G.I.F. (Thank God It’s Friday) has definitely taken a distinct connotation, very much different from the world. Family members (from the youngest to the oldest) look forward to be available every Friday night except the last Friday of the month when the joint Bible study is held in the church building.
This is a precious time to learn important doctrines taught in the Word of God, celebrate birthdays, wedding anniversaries, special achievements of the parents and children, welcome new friends, salvation of the lost, encourage one another, share our prayer requests, and hosts of other things needed in our spiritual growth and our physical journey here on earth.
Discipleship of new believers is an important ministry of the church to feed them with the pure milk of God’s Word that they may grow and glow, learn to know, love and trust God better each day, and strive to obey all the things commanded by God through the leading of the Holy Spirit who guides us into all truth, convicts us of our sins, teaches us all things, and brings all things to our remembrance (John 14:26).
Presently, we have groups meeting in Bergen, Hudson, Passaic, and Union counties. Our officers and leaders teach the Bible with the desire and ardent prayer to train other men within the group totake on the responsibility of leading to be able to start a new group in other homes.
Our men are challenged and most of them are now enrolled in our Bible Institute.
If you are interested, this serves as an invitation for you to join the nearest Home Bible Study group in your area. The meetings start at 8:00 p.m. hosted by different families, so please call the parsonage (973-246-6122) for the venue.
